Cloudflare Launches Tool to Measure Website Compatibility with AI Agents
San Francisco, CA — Cloudflare today released a groundbreaking new tool, isitagentready.com, that scores how well any website is optimized for AI agents. The move comes as the internet faces its third major adaptation: after learning to speak to browsers and search engines, it must now communicate with autonomous AI systems.
"The web is entering a new era," said Dr. Elena Voss, Cloudflare's Senior Director of Product. "AI agents will soon navigate sites on behalf of users, requesting specific content, handling authentication, and even making payments. Our research shows that virtually no site is fully ready for this shift."
Alongside the scoring tool, Cloudflare updated its Radar platform with an AI Insights page that tracks global adoption of agent-related standards. The dataset covers 200,000 of the most visited domains, excluding redirects, ad-servers, and tunneling services to focus on businesses and publishers.
Key Findings: The Web Is Surprisingly Unprepared
Analysis reveals that 78% of sites have a robots.txt file, but almost all are written for traditional crawlers, not AI agents. Only 4% declare AI usage preferences via the new Content Signals standard. Meanwhile, 3.9% serve Markdown content when requested, and fewer than 15 sites support emerging standards like MCP Server Cards or API Catalogs.
"These numbers highlight a massive opportunity for early adopters," commented Marcus Tran, a web standards analyst at Cloudflare. "Sites that implement agent-friendly protocols now will gain a competitive edge as AI tools become mainstream."

Just as the web adopted HTML for browsers and structured data for search engines, it must now embrace agent-specific standards. These include proper robots.txt directives for AI, Markdown content negotiation, and authentication guides. Without these, agents waste resources scraping unstructured content.
Cloudflare itself led by example, overhauling its Developer Documentation to be "the most agent-friendly" on the web. The revamp allows AI assistants to answer questions faster and at significantly lower cost.
What This Means
For site owners, the Agent Readiness score provides actionable feedback — similar to Google Lighthouse for performance — guiding them to adopt standards that improve agent interaction. The Radar dataset updates weekly and is accessible via API, enabling continuous monitoring.
